Study Medicine

Studying Medicine in Europe offers the chance to earn an internationally recognised Medical Degree. With English-taught programs at some of the top universities, you’ll gain the skills needed to return to the UK or Ireland and work as an NHS doctor, while also opening doors to opportunities around the world!

Studying Medicine in Europe

With the increasing competition for medical school places in the UK, many students are finding themselves without places, taking gap years, or having to settle for courses they didn’t intend to pursue. If you’ve always wanted to study Medicine but are feeling discouraged by the highly competitive entry requirements and rising tuition fees in the UK, studying in Europe could be the perfect alternative.

Europe offers an accessible, affordable pathway to earning an internationally recognised Medical Degree, with many programs taught in English. These programs not only have lower entry requirements compared to the UK, but they also provide a chance to study at medical universities without the financial strain. This is an opportunity for those truly passionate about medicine to follow their dreams and build a future in healthcare.

For UK students, the qualification you earn in Europe is recognised globally, meaning you can practice in the UK, USA, and more. These programs are specifically geared towards students who plan to return to the UK and sit the UKMLA, ensuring they are well-prepared for a career in the NHS.

Studying medicine in Europe is more than just an academic choice—it’s a chance to enrich your life and grow personally as well as professionally. It gives you the opportunity to pursue your passion and study the degree you’ve always dreamed of, even if you didn’t secure a place in the UK.

Entry requirements

Unlike the UK, where you need top A-level grades, a perfect UCAT score, and to pass a rigorous interview process, the entry requirements for medical schools in Europe are more relaxed. You can often gain admission with lower A-level grades or even other qualifications

However, as with any medical program, we strongly encourage our students to put in their best effort. While the entry process may be less competitive, studying Medicine is still a challenging and demanding journey. You’ll be working towards a career in healthcare, so it’s important to remain focused and committed to your studies throughout.

Tuiton Fees

Contrary to what many might think, tuition fees at several European medical universities are often more affordable than in the UK! With some universities starting as low as £4,800 per year, studying Medicine in Europe can be much more cost-effective. To make it even easier for students, fees are typically split into

While these fees are lower, it’s important to note that they are privately paid, so you won’t be eligible for a UK government student loan. However, this more affordable fee structure means that most students find it manageable without financial aid—and it also means you’ll graduate without the burden of substantial student debt.

What happens once you’ve graduated

Once you’ve completed your medical degree abroad, your next step towards practicing in the UK is to sit the UK Medical Licensing Assessment (UKMLA). This exam is mandatory for all aspiring doctors, whether you’ve graduated from a UK medical school or studied abroad—it’s a standardised test to ensure every doctor meets the same high standards of knowledge and skills.

After passing the UKMLA and completing your application to the General Medical Council (GMC), you’ll gain your license to practice medicine in the UK. From here, you can start your medical career, whether that’s joining the NHS or exploring other opportunities.
